The often witty McSweeney’s gives us an article titled:
REVIEWS OF DVDS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE PIRATED BUT WERE DEFINITELY BOUGHT ON THE STREET IN SHANGHAI FOR ABOUT A DOLLAR.
Team America: World Police
Obtained: Yan An pedestrian overpass
Price: 10 RMB, but came with a coupon for “Half Off Double Happy Massage at DragonWing Men Club for Men”Amateur work throughout. We can see the edges of the bag in which the camera is hidden. But there’s also an unintentional artistry here that adds welcome layers of complexity.
As Team America blows Egypt apart, the silhouette of a man in a cowboy hat looms in front of us in the theater. He’s probably just going for popcorn, but his exiting archetypal shadow plays like a sharp rebuke to the frontier justice being meted out on the screen.

I’m usually unamused by the homebrew animated shorts that show up on the web, but for some reason this one really makes me laugh. It’s called Demolition Squid.

This video of a Citroen Transformer has been out for a while… dunno how I missed it… oh, yeah, I don’t live in Europe. Someone has now created a Bumblebee parody of it.

Someone scanned a book from 1952 called, How to Perform Strong Man Stunts. This is the kind of thing you could buy from the end pages of comic books. This throwback has the best intro:
One of the truest statements ever made is, “All the World Loves a Strong Man.” Every man, woman and child admires strength, and there is not a man who does not crave it. To be stronger than your friends is to be looked upon as a natural leader, and an invincible defender. Strength is the biggest hallmark of manhood. It demonstrates true he-man masculinity.
This guy has a fantastic audio clip of a recording he made of being harassed by, then harassing, a cold caller. Must hear.

On April Fool’s Day this year, Scientific American had a great satirical concession speech on their recant of evolution. From the article:
Nor should we succumb to the easy mistake of thinking that scientists understand their fields better than, say, U.S. senators or best-selling novelists do.

Everyone knows how obsessive Japan is with toilet technology. I don’t know what any of it means, but it’s kind of funny. They really want you to buy this toilet.
