Your screen resolution

Allegiant readers and contributors,
Please tell me what your screen resolution is in a comment to this post. If you don’t know how to find that, it’s easy. If you’re using Windows:

  1. Right-click on an empty spot on your Desktop.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Go to the Settings tab.
  4. Look at the numbers under the section, Screen resolution.

Thanks.

Server problem

I spoke with my webhost today and they said that there was a hardware failure on the server that Both Favorites is on. They had to rollback the database to a backup from 2/9. What that means for you is that if you wrote a post, draft, or comment between yesterday and this afternoon, it is lost. There’s no getting it back. You’ll have to write it again. If you didn’t do any of those things in that period of time, you’re safe.

300 posts, 500 comments

Today BothFavorites.com hit two milestones at once with 300 posts and 500 comments. Thanks to all who contributed.

Categorical imperative

Bluegrass girl astutely asked the question, “Why is there not a category for boobs on this site?”

The initial reason was so that the site wouldn’t be blacklisted by censor-ware apps (not just NetNanny-types, but enterprise/institutional-level filters as well). Some of those programs look for a certain ratio of keywords per page. Because the category names are on the sidebar, and the sidebar loads on every page, the ratio would be >1 on every page if the category name was one of those keywords.

However, the need for the category is clear. We just need to come up with a sufficiently obscure name for it. Everyone’s input is welcome. I’ll start us off:

  • Globes of Fun
  • Hooblertown
  • Hanging Twins of Boobylon
  • Grand Tetons
  • Racks
  • What Tootie Grew

I’m Audi 5000

Starting tonight I’ll be on vacation until the end of the month without tech, so expect a drop in the number of new posts. But by all means keep posting. I’ll need something to do when I get back.

Recent Comments section added

I just added a Recent Comments section on the sidebar. This should make it easier to see if there are any new comments without having to check each post, and remember how many comments the post previously had. It’s currently set to display links to the five most recent comments. That’s a value that’s easily changed, so if you find it’s too many or too few, let me know, and I’ll ignore you.
