Chitinous backpack
![]()
It’s a backpack with a segmented hard shell that you wrap around a tree or lamppost, lock it, and then walk away. If necessity is the mother of invention, the impetus for this thing has got to be a good story. Given the current American anxiety regarding unattended baggage, this is sure to do well.

If this isn’t too expensive, I might contemplate dropping a nice bolus in there after dinner, and locking it up as my own personal time capsule. Then someone can eventually try to open it up and might palpate it, in the hopes of finding something useful. Maybe I’ll swallow a penny so that person doesn’t waste his/her time.

You’ve used 2 of the best words I’ve heard all week – “bolus” and “palpate”. Generally, plalpate only comes up in uncomfortable medical exam situations.

So does bolus, believe me.
