Colbert vs. Bush

colbertpress

Stephen Colbert, in character, roasted Bush at the White House Correspondent’s Association Dinner. It was so good that it can’t be contained in one movie.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

He gives Bush so thorough a beating, you almost feel bad for him.

To save yourself some time, just watch the first one…very funny. The other two.. .not so much.

one other thing… I was disappointed that they hardly ever (if at all?) showed Bush’s reaction to the jokes. There were lots of crowd shots but none of Bush. What up with that.

Great performance by Colbert, balls of gold-pressed latinum. Depressing that the only mainstream coverage of alternative political discourse is when it’s couched in comedy.

And but of course they don’t show Bush, the press are all in cahoots with the landed gentry! It’s funny how the reactions by the press covering the event try to minimize Colbert by saying he wasn’t that funny. I just thought that the press was too uncomfortable to laugh, seeing that he was bringing up all the issues that they’ve glossed over, afraid to risk their access and credentials with those in power.
