Gonzales takes it

Gonzales protestors

From elsewhere,

Alberto Gonzales spoke before law students at Georgetown today, justifying illegal, unauthorized surveilance of US citizens, but during the course of his speech the students in class did something pretty ballsy and brave. They got up from their seats and turned their backs to him.
To make matters worse for Gonzales, additional students came into the room, wearing black cowls and carrying a simple banner, written on a sheet.

Con-Airborne

Airborne

For the last couple of months I’ve noticed that in front of every cash register in every drugstore there are well placed display stands of a product called Airborne. If you haven’t seen it before, it’s really clever. Here’s their site for additional goodness.

The packaging depicts a fearful person surrounded by coughing, sneezing plane passengers, classroom students, theater goers, etc. cowering under a looming collection of malicious creatures that the viewer is encouraged to interpret as germs, viruses, etc. Even though one looks like the SwineTrek, another has cilia, so they’re totally biological.

The best part of the display is this statement in huge letters:
“Created by a second grade school teacher!”

Yes! Brilliant! This company deserves every penny it makes. They take a placebo with negligible manufacturing costs, pour all capital into marketing to fearful, credulous Americans, and watch the money come in on trucks. Yet another, “why didn’t I think of that?”

A tip of the hat to you, Airborne. Well done!

Smut for Smut

Smut 4 Smut

Atheist Agenda, an atheist group at U Texas San Antonio, staged a “Porno for Bibles” event, where they gave free pornography to people who traded in religious scripture.

Nice one!

I wonder if the Gideons like porn…

Real-life Paperboy prank

paperboyscreenshot

This is great – some of you may remember the old videogame Paperboy. You bike down the street and throw newspapers at people’s porches while avoiding lots of random hurdles like runaway tires, dogs, kids playing with r/c cars, punk rockers, ninjas, mummies, skateboarders, the usual video game stuff. Here is a video of a paperboy in a truck driving down the street when suddenly a bunch of people dressed like those video game hurdles get in his way. Wait for the ending, it’s clever.

Trenton in miniature

Model railroad slums

Kinda clever. Here’s a model train enthusiast who’s worth mentioning. Instead of building the typical bucolic settings that other hobbyists strive to achieve, this guy makes miniature slum-scenes for his trains to roll through, replete with liquor stores, blowing trash and graffiti.
