Hitachi Schoolhouse Rock

Perpendicular Drive
Hitachi has this great flash movie mimicking the style of Schoolhouse Rock shorts to promote their new perpendicular drive technology. May take a while to load, but it’s worth it.

Ode to Chipotle

Logo

Some bean-hungry student at the Daily Northwestern claims that this chain can satisfy me in ways a whore never could.

Hard to find anything to disagree with here: The full ode.

By the way, if you check out the Chipotle web site, you can see the live Chicken Marinating and Avacado Ripening cams. Nice. I would really like to see the “Employee Stealing from the Register” or “Hair In My Burrito” cams.

GreaseMonkey for Firefox is the shite

The reasons why Firefox kicks ass are many and well documented, but the one relevant to this topic is its extensibility. GreaseMonkey is one such extension. Wired has a good article on it, but if you’re lazy…
GreaseMonkey allows Firefox users to use site-specific scripts to alter the look or behavior of websites that they visit. For instance, if you use Netflix, but you like to read about movies on IMDB, you can enable a script to display a “Add to my Netflix queue” link on each movie page on IMDB. Another script bypasses the interstitial ad pages and in-content ads on IGN.com. Well done geeks!

No, you may not have my personal information

BugMeNot
Don’t want to give some company your demographic or personal information in order to view the content of their site? BugMeNot.com is a great way to bypass registration for a number of websites. I have no idea how many or what types of site it has information for, but I’ve tried it on news sites like NYT and Washington Post, but it works great. You just go to BugMeNot.com and enter the URL of the site you want to view. It gives you a valid login and pw. Alternatively, the have a Firefox extension so you don’t even have to visit the BugMeNot site. Not using Firefox? Well, you frickin should.
Get Firefox!

$t@R W4R$ pwnd

This guy made a parody of the Star Wars: Episode 3 trailer by adding subtitles of leetspeak… similar to the Jive-to-English translation in Airplane. But then Lucas’s laywers sent him an angry “cease and desist” takedown notice. This guy gets the last laugh, though, by posting the notice and a leetspeak translation of it. An excerpt:

n00bz:

Clan Luc@ss and krew (aka. “Griefers”) are so ubAr 133t that we even made Star Warz, The Empire Respawns, and The Jedi Go PvP. We also made some crap about some fag named Jar-Jar, but that was totally teh SUXXOR!!!1!!11! (oops. our bad) But we still totally pwn those flix. Those movies are mega ph4t lewt and we even found some sploitz that let us re-release them and make MAD BANK!
Even tho the 133t trailR was TOTALLY THE WINxorz, we f’in PWNt you! You are a dam dirty pirate-haxor-n00b and you can’t join our clan. You duped our items and somehow (must be h4x) stacked buffs on them. You best do what we say or we’ll petition the GMs and they will B4N your account! Oh noes!
